For nearly a decade, the world of antiques, jewellery, and collectables has been shaped by the expertise of Gilbert Baitson, a family-run business that has been conducting over 9,000 auction sales since its inception in 1935.
Auctioneer’s delight
The business has a long history of attracting enthusiasts and collectors from far and wide, with its auctions featuring an incredible array of items, including a stuffed Doberman dog, 40,000 sets of false teeth, and a donkey.

The company’s enthusiasm for public auctions has been a cornerstone of its success, with partner Andrew Baitson saying: “The excitement of the occasion has long been an attraction to selling and buying at public auctions, as it is known that a contract is secured on the fall of the hammer.”

Gilbert Baitson’s was established by Gilbert Baitson at 9 Bond Street, Hull in 1935, and a year later, he married Lilian, with whom he had two children, Michael and Mary.
